    Description

    A beautiful collectible set of four U.S. postage stamps issued in 1940 as part of the Famous American series of stamps to honor Dr. Crawford Long who is credited as the first to use ether as anesthesia during surgery. Crawford W. Long Memorial Hospital was named in his honor. In 2009 it was renamed, "Emory University Hospital Midtown". References to the Crawford W. Long Memorial Hospital remain on exterior monuments.
    These stamps have never been used and are as fresh as the day they were sold at the Post Office over 80 years ago! Suitable for framing, they would make a great gift to anyone interested in the history of anesthesia!
