Pre-Dreadnaught Battle Ship USA circa 1890-1900? Carving 3d Trench? Art

The carving itself is about 6x7 inches. The frame looks late 1800's and pre-dreadnought battle ships were about that time so I am assuming it was made about that time. I tried to figure out which ship this was but some are hard to find pictures. It's clearly a USA battleship. When many were put out of service they were sold for scrap or taken out to sea for air-force bombing practice and eventually sunk. One was made into a school for a time! I narrowed it down to about 2 or 3 possibilities but I am going to not say which for I am not certain.
What happened is, this was on display, everything was just fine, then one day I noticed it seemed a "bit off", the carving inside the frame, so I thought it would be an easy adjustment and took the piece apart. ( It appears the nails that held the frame together have been lost or discarded as I never knew what to do with it when I took it apart and the small chips of wood, that were strategically placed behind the carving were supposed to go so have since put it away until just recently when I re-discovered it and thought this art really needs to be owned by someone who collects this type of folk/trench art. I loved it while it was hanging on the wall but apparently the heat last summer got to it and those pieces became loose, i had it at the top of the wall, where all the heat goes, but I had no idea there were wood pieces that held it in place with glue.
This art will be carefully packed but it will remain as is in the pictures. I am not going to fix it and will leave it up to the person who knows exactly what should be done, properly because this is a gem that needs professional "fixing". The artboard itself is in excellent condition. To keep the art from sliding in the package, the frame and pieces will be packed separately from the wood carving, in the same box of course.
